Iron Mal:
Go with Dark Crusade, I've played and completed both and I can't stress it enough that Soulstorm is horrible. Dawn of war 3 reddit.
Soulstorm tries to be bigger than Dark Crusade by allegedly giving you a whole solar system to conquer but in essence it's the same length campaign as Dark Crusade (just with two extra, not very good, Stronghold missions) and all of the new additions were..disappointing (which is a shame because the Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle do have interesting lore and backstories in the tabletop game).
In short, go with Dark Crusade (even the base game on it's own is better, mods be damned).
This is a list of weapons wargear found in the Dawn of War II campaign.
Bolt PistolsEdit
Basic one-handed ranged weapon for characters using a one-handed melee weapon. Can kill weak infantry, but isn't really very useful. The best one is Pistol of Terra.
BoltersEdit
Basic ranged weapon good against light infantry, not very good against heavy infantry and useless against vehicles. The best one is Deathdealer.
ChainswordsEdit
Basic melee weapon good against light infantry, less effective against heavy infantry and not effective against vehicles. The best one is Growling Hate.
Combat ShotgunsEdit
Anti-melee ranged weapon. Can be powerful when used correctly, but Cyrus's Sniper Rifle abilities are so powerful you should pick that instead.
Dreadnought Assault CannonsEdit
Heavy rapid-fire weapon most effective against infantry, but not worthless against vehicles or buildings either. Probably better than the close combat claws, as the Dreadnought can stay back instead of crushing valuable cover.
Dreadnought ClawsEdit
The melee choice for the Dreadnought. Using him for close combat is problematic because of cover destruction and getting him killed, so consider taking the assault cannon instead.
Heavy BoltersEdit
Heavy Bolters are rapid-fire anti-infantry weapons most effective against light infantry swarms, usable by Avitus and the Force Commander if he has the appropriate trait. Avitus is extremely powerful with a Heavy Bolter, and is devastating against all infantry and targets in close range. He should be equipped with one most of the time. The most powerful Heavy Bolter is Neverending Hail of Devastation.
Terminator Heavy FlamersEdit
Stronger than the regular Flamers, these weapons can only be carried by Terminators. The best one is Cleansing Gift of the Inferno .
FlamersEdit
Close-range weapons excellent for swarms, enemies in cover or buildings as well as generator destruction. The best one is Gift of the Seraphim.
Missile LaunchersEdit
The best anti-vehicle and anti-building weapon, but the worst for infantry and heavy infantry due to slow rate of fire and incredibly low accuracy (9%) against them. They will always be very accurate against vehicles. These weapons are better against vehicles than the plasma cannons due to the accuracy and no damage penalty. The best one is The Pitiless Lance of Vengeance.
Plasma CannonsEdit
Great range, even better when using Focus Fire and all the range-increasing traits. Snipes static defenses and does great damage against vehicles. Make sure you don't kill your melee squads with friendly fire, however. Plasma Cannon does splash damage and knockdown. This weapon has a short charge time after set-up meaning that shots will be delayed. The best one is Star Thrower.
Plasma GunsEdit
Slower, slightly less accurate and with less range than Bolters, but strong against heavy infantry and even vehicles. Can reduce armor for a duration. The best one is Final Absolution of Caliban.
Plasma PistolsEdit
Able to reduce armor and deal more damage to heavy infantry (even vehicles and buildings), these Plasma Pistols are superior than the Bolt Pistols albeit slightly less accurate and slower. The best one is Talon of the Doom Eagle.
Power AxesEdit
Almost the same as Power Swords, but deal more damage at the expense of a slower attack speed. They all have a 65% Knockback Resistance property. The best one is Gift of Blackmane.
Power FistsEdit
Melee weapons great against vehicles due to their Vehicle Stun capability, but have a slow attack speed that limits their usefulness against groups of infantry and heavy infantry. The best one is Crushing Fist of Cortez.
Power SwordsEdit
Great against heavy infantry and is only slightly slower than a Chainsword. The best one is probably Azrael's Second.
Sniper RiflesEdit
Arguably best choice for Cyrus. Allows High-powered shot if the Specialist Ammunition perk is acquired, which instant kills all non-epic units/vehicles. Neutralizes problematic single units (Warlocks, Beamy Lootas, Weapons Platforms, Tyranids with Venom Cannons etc.). The best one is Unseen Demise of the Vain.
Storm BoltersEdit
Basic ranged weapon for the Terminator Armor. The best one is Word of the Chapter.
Terminator Assault CannonsEdit
Very fast firing weapons that always have a Scatter Damage property, great for enemies that are very close to each other. The best one is The Benediction of Fury.
Terminator Power FistsEdit
Terminator Power Fists are the basic one-handed weapon used by terminator squads with Thaddeus being the only exception, as he uses Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield as default. The most powerful Terminator Power Fist is Fist of Belial.
Thunder HammersEdit
Very strong, but slow and sacrifices the pistol slot. They can stun vehicles and knockback infantry. The best one is Dorn's Retribution.
Thunder Hammers and Storm ShieldsEdit
Thaddeus' default weapon when using a Terminator Armor. Excellent against everything except buildings, though rather slow and removes the use of ranged weaponry. Can stun vehicles and knockback enemies. The best one is Holy Arms of the Champion.
Custom TailoredOne of my favorite parts of computer games is what happens when you become bored with a game. Let's face it – even your favorite game can become boring after you've played it for hours on end. With a PC game, however, that isn't nessicarily the end of the game's life. If the game is popular, you can often download mods that change it significantly, breathing new life into your old favorite. Dawn of War 2 is a very popular game indeed, so it's no surprise there are some great mods out there for it. I messed around with a number of them and picked out the best so you know what to download. Ultimate ApocalypsePart of Dawn of War 2's appeal is the sheer spectacle of it all. Big, tough guys with big weapons are shooting big mechs and big aliens. When people or aliens die, they die in big bursts of glory with big chunks of blood and guts flying everywhere. It's like a monster truck doing a backflip; absurd, completely unnessecary, and totally awesome. Ultimate Apocolypse simply turns it up to 11. You'll find new units in this mod, spanning even more technology tiers. You'll also find new structures, that can deliver incredible destruction. Why settle for blowing up just one screens worth of terrain when you can blow up four, right? Finally, the army sizes are dramatically increased, so you'll be fielding way more units than in the normal game. If you are looking for some sort of challenge or balance, this isn't going to be great mod for you. This is simply an 11-year old's fantasy lived large. But there's nothing wrong with that; the Total Annihilation franchise had some great games based on that and little more. Space Hulk ModSpace Hulk is a board game in the Warhammer 40k universe that centers on the adventures of a group of Space Marines who have to investigate a 'Space Hulk' – a giant ball of junk floating through Imperium space. These hulks often contain information or technology of great age and value, but as you might expect, they also often contain nasty aliens that must be eliminated. Those aliens are actually played by another player, who tries to stop the Space Marines.
Friends can drop in or out of a game from online without having to restart the entire mission or wait for others to be ready. The only person that must stay in the game is the host. The Campaign is tied to the system, meaning can be completed and Marines upgraded during these missions; however, the Xenomorph Rank will only increase through multiplayer progression. There are a total of 53 hidden throughout the Campaign as well. Aliens colonial marines bug hunt. Unlike most first person shooter campaigns, Aliens: Colonial Marines allows up to four players to play the campaign at the same time.
The Space Hulk mod essentially replicates the board game within the Dawn of War 2 engine. There are a number of Terminators in the Space Marine squad, and a second player can play the role of the aliens (called Genestealers). It's competitive game, but not in the way of Dawn of War 2's normal multiplayer. Finding a match by yourself can be hard, but if you have a friend with Dawn of War 2, playing with them results in a very unique experience. Finding MoreThese two mods should provide you with hours of additional fun from Dawn of War 2. But what if you want more? Lots of projects, in various stages, are available on the Relic News forums. You can also find a map editor there, so you can make your own new maps for the game. Finishing Dawn of War 2 is not the end – it's only the beginning!
There was a bit of a rocky start for Relic's highly-anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War III, with only one multiplayer mode available at launch and some major bugs in single player mode that prevented many players from even being able to complete the early missions.
Fast forward a few months and we've had a host of bug fixes and new game modes added. Now, finally, the August 30th patch brings a host of multiplayer balances and what everyone has truly been waiting for -- mod tools!
Passionate fans are already flooding the Dawn Of War III Steam Workshop with maps (bringing back some of the most loved entries from the original Dawn Of War and other titles), unit tweaking mods, and of course all sorts of delicious cheats to cut down on the grind.
Below we're rounding up the best of the best in mods that are currently available and should be downloaded immediately for new twists on the revamped DoWIII gameplay.

Best Dawn Of War III Steam Workshop ModsElite Unit Upgrades
While you can slowly earn various Doctrines for your Elites over time and apply them in between battles, one element of the game that has been frustrating for some players is the lack of ability to directly apply different upgrades during a campaign.
With this mod, any of your basic upgrades you buy with requisition and energy for your infantry units will also apply to your Elites, giving them bonus health, damage, and so on just like they were any other unit.
Bridge Of Helios Map
This updated multiplayer map is an amazingly protracted dog fight of a slog where you'll be battling for every inch of territory in a straight line, rather than spread across any of the normal maps.
Dawn Of War Star Wars Mod
War is hell, and it's doubly so in the simple (but devastating) Bridge Of Helios map. Anytime you've got a strategic point captured, be prepared to immediately defend it, and making any headway the other direction will result in a huge battle of epic proportions if any player has been properly defending their listening posts.
Balance Of Terror Map
Of all the 1 Vs 1 Workshop maps currently available, this is easily among the best, with a nonstandard layout for the power core objectives and an awesome yin yang style that's half Necron-themed, half Chaos-themed.
Now when is Relic finally going to get on letting us play those races in single and multiplayer modes already? Bring on the Tau and Tyranid while you're at it!
No Limit Mod
It's exactly what it sounds like -- the population cost of every unit is reduced to 0, so you can just keep on calling 'em down as long as you've got the resources to spare. Careful though, as this can result in some serious slow downs if your rig can't handle a hundred vehicles on screen at a time!
Overpowered Elites
The endless grind for leveling your Elites and unlocking new abilities just got a whole lot easier thanks to this trio of overpowered mods that let you batter through anything in your path without much danger of an Elite going down in the gunfire.
Keep in mind, these are the best Workshop entries now available just after the mod tools arrived a few days ago! There will certainly be more coming down the pipe soon that let you die in ever more epic ways for the glory of the Emperor.
