The speed, the excitement, the lightning-fast tire changes, the cars…always the cars. Formula 1 is an exciting sport to watch, and if you’re looking for ways to watch the F1 races online, we have you covered.
The 2019 Formula One World Championship is the 70th event of the kind and will encompass 21 races across the world. Lewis Hamilton is set to once more defend his title, after winning the 2018 Championship for the fifth time.
When to Watch the 2019 Formula One World Championship?
According to the schedule, the first race will take place on March 17, while the last one is to take place on December 1st. Here’s the full list of races for the coming year.
Where to Watch Formula 1 2019?
Across the world, Formula 1 is quite popular and there are TV channels all over that have acquired broadcasting rights. For instance, in Australia, they go to Network Ten and Fox Sports, in Canada to RDS and TSN, in the UK to Channel 4, Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports, while in the US you can watch on ABC and ESPN.
How to Watch Formula 1 Online from Anywhere?
A great part of watching Formula 1 with the help of streaming platforms is the freedom these give you – a compatible device and an Internet connection – that’s all you need. Well, unless you go abroad because that’s when things get complicated. Licensing deals on live TV platforms that carry ABC and ESPN have prevented them from allowing broadcasts to take place outside of the US so they just geoblock the whole platform. There’s also the fact that ABC is a channel that’s only available through local stations, so depending on where you live, you may not get to watch ABC even if you’re inside the US. Both of these situations are easily fixed by changing your IP address. Therefore, a VPN is the best solution you can hope for here. Connect to a VPN and enjoy streaming Formula 1 from anywhere.
How to Watch Formula 1 2019 Without Cable?
In the past few years, we’ve become so accustomed to consuming content online that we also want to watch TV online. While some channels also feature live feeds you can watch if you sign in with your cable provider-given credentials, they’re not always the best solution. Ultimately, people are becoming sick and tired of the regular cable contracts they’ve become tied to – platforms that lack flexibility and who refuse to adapt with the times. So, cutting the cord seems like the natural next step in this story. That being said, we’re going to dive into the platforms that will help you live stream formula 1 races online.
1. Sling TV
First up on our list is Sling TV, a fabulous platform that allows users to deeply customize their plans. The first step is, of course, picking a bundle to start with and you have three options for that. Orange ($25/mo), Blue ($25/mo), and Orange + Blue ($40/mo) are the three bundles you can pick from. You can then continue by adding interest-based channel packs and premium networks.

Sling TV features loads of channels, but you can find ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN 3, in the Orange and Orange + Blue bundles. There are also some other ESPN channels in the Sports pack if you want more of those. If you’re looking for ABC, you won’t find it in the bundles and packs that Sling TV has to offer, but if you’re a big enough fan of the platform and are willing to pay for two or three months of the subscription in advance, they’ll give you a free TV antenna. This antenna can then be used to watch ABC over the air. We’ll discuss more this option in a bit.
On Sling TV, you have to pay extra if you want to be able to record any content to the cloud. Of course, in the end, it makes sense because they treat everything like an extra feature you can add. So, for 50 hours of cloud DVR, you’ll have to pay $5 per month. While the DVR feature is pretty great, you should know that you can’t record live content on all Disney and ESPN channels, as well as several on-demand only channels. When it comes to simultaneous streams, it depends on what bundle you pick because Orange subscribers can stream only to one device, Blue subscribers can stream to three devices at once, while Orange + Blue subscribers can watch content on four devices. Check out our Sling TV review to understand the platform better.
2. ESPN+
ESPN+ has been around for a while and it’s a platform that’s worth mentioning since it offers quite a bit of content for a small price. The monthly subscription for ESPN+ costs $5, but you can also pay $50 for the full year.
In order to access the content you use the same ESPN app, but you can see the exclusive content marked with a golden badge – sports events, content, shows, and more. Check out our ESPN+ review for all the details.
3. Hulu
Continuing with our list, we find Hulu. While you may be more familiar with the video on demand service they offer, the live TV plan has been around for a while, too. At $44.99 per month, users get to enjoy not only dozens of live channels but also access to the VOD library. For some time now, they’ve also enabled users to customize their plans by adding two channel packs and a few premium networks.
Among those many channels available on Hulu, you can also find ESPN and ESPN 2, as well as plenty others from the same network.
On Hulu, all subscribers can record up to 50 hours to the cloud DVR. Those who want more can pay $14.99 per month for 200 hours. Similarly, since the live TV plan comes with two simultaneous streams, those who need more can pay $14.99 per month for the “Unlimited Screens” feature. The number of devices you can stream on at the same time is actually only “unlimited” when you’re on the home network, but it’s very much limited to three when you’re away. Read our Hulu review to get all the details you need to make a decision.
4. YouTube TV
The next suggestion we have is YouTube TV, a great platform that only offers one bundle to pick here – hopefully, it features all the channels you want to watch. The service costs $40 per month, and the only way to customize your subscription is to pay for premium channels.
YouTube TV features loads of channels you can watch sports on, including ESPN and ESPN 2 so you’re good to go for watching Formula 1.
The perks of picking this platform are plentiful too. The cloud DVR feature is unlimited, meaning that you have no definite number of programs you can record or a number of hours. The recordings can also be kept for nine months, so you have loads of time to watch them. The platform also supports up to three simultaneous streams, and you won’t have to pay anything extra for that third device. We have a lengthy YouTube TV review if you want to check it out.
5. DirecTV Now
DirecTV Now is another one of your options. The platform went through some pretty big changes in March, dropping the original five bundles and taking on only two – Plus ($50/mo) and Max ($70/mo) -, both of which feature few channels, include HBO, while Max also features Cinemax. Then, the old bundles were brought back under a new name and with their prices pretty much doubled – Entertainment ($93/mo), Choice ($110/mo) Xtra ($124/mo), Ultimate ($135/mo), and Optimo Mas ($86/mo). If you want, you can still add three international packs, a couple of Spanish-language channel packs, and several premium networks.
If you’re looking for ESPN and ESPN 2, you’ll find them both in the Plus and Max bundles, as well as in Entertainment, Choice, Xtra, and Ultimate. Optimo Mas gets ESPN Deportes instead. As for ABC, you can find it in all seven bundles.
DirecTV Now allows all subscribers to record content to watch later. The cloud DVR feature comes with 20 hours-worth of space. You can also watch content on up to two devices at once, but if your household needs more, you can pay $5 per month for a third device. Make sure to check out our DirecTV Now review to better understand all that the platform has to offer.
6. PlayStation Vue
Formula 1 2019 Wikipedia
One of the best live TV streaming platforms we’ve encountered is PlayStation Vue, a service that features four starter bundles, a couple of extra channel packs, and some premium networks. The four bundles you can pick from are Access ($44.99/mo), Core ($49.99/mo), Elite ($59.99/mo), and Ultra ($79.99/mo).
There are loads of channels on these bundles, including ESPN and ESPN 2, which you’ll find in all of them. This means you can pick whichever bundle you like best, or the one that has the best price for your monthly budget.
There are several features that helped quite a bit in us giving PlayStation Vue the highest score among all live TV streaming services we reviewed. For instance, the cloud DVR feature has enough room for 500 programs, even though the recordings will expire after a month. Also, PlayStation Vue supports five simultaneous streams, which is the most we’ve seen, especially when there’s no additional tax. One unique feature we saw here is Split Screen, which enables users to watch three programs at once on the same device. Check out TechNadu’s PlayStation Vue review.
Can You Watch Formula 1 With a TV Antenna?
You sure can, but only if the race is broadcasted by ABC. ABC is one of the channels that you can watch over the air with the help of an antenna, which makes things pretty cool. This means that you can cut the cord, buy an antenna and then watch TV for free. Of course, the downside is that there are only a few dozen channels you can check out in there, but it’s free, so you don’t get too complain.
Offer
Before going forward and making a purchase you should check a site like NoCable where they’ll tell you what channels are available over the air in your location, as well as how strong the broadcasting signal is, so you know what range to choose for your antenna. If it all checks out and you’re happy with what you see, go right ahead and pick an antenna. We gave you one of the best antennas around as a suggestion, but you can do your own research.
